Terms of Service

The terms that apply when you use CareerStudioMax.

Status of this document: this is a starter agreement written directly from how CareerStudioMax actually works — not a generic template, but also not something a lawyer has reviewed. The address below is city-level only, not a full registered address, pending a proper business address once budget allows. Sections 11 and 13 (liability and dispute resolution) have reasonable stopgap language instead of a bare placeholder, but it's still standard boilerplate, not counsel-reviewed for this business or jurisdiction — have a lawyer review the whole document, especially those two sections, before relying on it.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using CareerStudioMax, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. CareerStudioMax is operated by Owolabi Kumuyi, trading as CareerStudioMax ("we", "us"), a sole trader based in Lagos, Nigeria.

2. The service

CareerStudioMax is an AI-powered career development platform: resume analysis, interview coaching, job search tools, career planning, and related AI-generated content and automation (including tools that generate and deploy small applications on your behalf using your own connected accounts/API tokens, e.g. App Factory). Some features require a paid plan.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure.
You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
You must be at least 16 years old to use CareerStudioMax — we verify this against the date of birth collected at registration.

4. Acceptable use

Use CareerStudioMax for lawful career development purposes only. You agree not to:

Scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls
Use the service to generate unlawful, infringing, or abusive content
Access or attempt to access another user's account or data
Interfere with or overload the platform's infrastructure

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

5. AI-generated content

CareerStudioMax uses AI to generate advice, resumes, cover letters, interview feedback, and other content. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. It is not professional, legal, financial, or immigration advice. Always review AI-generated content yourself before relying on it — especially before submitting it in a job application or acting on it for a visa, legal, or financial decision.

6. App Factory and generated applications

Where you use App Factory or similar tools to generate and deploy applications, that deployment uses your own connected third-party accounts (e.g. GitHub, Vercel) and their tokens. You are responsible for the resulting code and deployment, including its content, licensing, and any costs or terms imposed by that third-party provider.

7. Subscriptions and payment

Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis and processed by Stripe (or, where enabled, a regional payment processor). We don't store your full card details.
You can cancel anytime from Account Settings; cancellation takes effect per the plan terms shown at checkout.
All payments are final and non-refundable. You can cancel your subscription at any time from Account Settings to stop future billing — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of the resume, career data, and other content you provide or create using CareerStudioMax. You grant us a license to process that content solely to provide the service to you (e.g. sending it to an AI provider to generate feedback). We don't sell your content or use it to train third-party AI models beyond what's needed to serve your request.

9. Termination and data deletion

You may delete your account at any time from Account Settings. Deletion is scheduled with a grace period, after which your data is permanently erased; you can export your data first. We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms.

10. Disclaimers

CareerStudioMax is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We don't guarantee that AI-generated content will get you a job, interview, or any particular outcome.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: CareerStudioMax's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service, however it arises, is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or €100 if you're on the free plan and haven't paid us anything). We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, even if we've been advised of the possibility of those damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under the law of Nigeria or your own country of residence — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we'll notify you by email or an in-app notice before they take effect.

13. Governing law & disputes

The laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria govern these Terms. If a dispute arises, we ask that you first contact us at career@careerstudiomax.com so we can try to resolve it informally. If that doesn't resolve things, the courts of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service. This doesn't limit any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your own country of residence, including your right to bring proceedings in your own country's courts where applicable law guarantees that right.
